Hosting private events is a great way to liven up your brewery. Depending on the space you have, you can attract people to your space and create an inviting place where people will want to come back to. However, you’ll want to make sure you have everything you need in order to be ready to host.

Set your space

People planning an event pick a brewery to host when they want something unique, fun, and that will have tasty beverages on hand. You probably already have those down, but you’ll need to make sure you have a space that is easy to host many people and the things that they need to make their event theirs. Splitting your taproom allows you to stay open for customers while hosting. If you aren’t able to do that, find the slowest times and days for your business. Getting the party started starts with getting requests for people to host events at your brewery. You can set up a form on your website or have a number to call, but you’ll want to keep in mind the costs for people using your space. Most brewers do this by calculating any costs for the drinks and any food and requiring a deposit for the event while signing up for a space. You can set up online booking or ask interested parties to call.

Create A tiered Payment system

If you have to close the store in order to host a party, you will want to consider a tiered pricing system for the days and times that you are more busy. You can also include an add on cost if they will need a private bartender tending to their drinks.

Create a signed agreement

Signing an agreement ensures that all expectations are well communicated. Be sure to consult with legal counsel when creating the agreement.

Don’t fill up your taproom to maximum capacity

Parties can be unpredictable. Setting the maximum number of guests below the maximum capacity of your taproom will ensure that anyone not accounted for can still join the party safely.

Keep in Mind Not everyone will have alcoholic beverages

When it’s time to set up for party time, it’s best to keep in mind this one last note: Just because people are invited to a brewery doesn’t mean that they will have one of your drinks. Plenty of people will choose water or non-alcoholic options. Make sure you have a variety of beverages available, even if they are not your top sellers.
