Why Promotional Can Koozies and Coolers Are Amazing

Can koozies and coolers are a convenient way to keep your hands warm and dry from the condensation. Business owners know that they can also be an opportunity. The days where the heat and humidity are the greatest, or when you need the heat and humidity inside during the winter, are the days that koozies and coolers are needed the most. With just a little bit of branding, it could be your logo that is passed around to guests during the sports games or during the holidays.

The science of can koozies

This little tidbit of research proved to be quite a fascinating find! While it might seem that can koozies and coolers are made to keep your hands warm and dry, they were mainly made to reduce condensation and keep your drink cooler for longer.

Physics Today posted a study published by professors Dale Durran and Dargan Frierson and conducted by undergraduates Stella Choi and Steven Brey that explains how reducing condensation keeps your drink cooler. This study looked at the latent heat on your favorite canned beverages. Latent heat is the heat that is needed to turn a liquid into a vapor without changing the temperature. This was done through observing changes in humidity.

In the end of the study, they found that higher humidity levels increased latent heat, creating more condensation and making your drink warmer. Once the can is as warm as the dew point, the temperature where water droplets begin to form while factoring in humidity and atmospheric pressure, condensation stops. Then, the warming of your drink slows down.
